The COVID-19 pandemic has provided a unique landscape in which all organizations have had to adjust their operations and expectations during this unprecedented time. The Connection, a statewide non-profit organization, is grateful to receive a $10,000 sponsorship from Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut to acquire the technology needed for residential clients to access telehealth visits.
“Keeping people healthy during this pandemic is our top priority,” says Lisa DeMatteis-Lepore, CEO of The Connection. “Being able to assist clients with seamless access to care with their healthcare providers without taking on the additional risk of an in-person visit is vitally important to keeping COVID cases down in our programs. We are so thankful to Anthem for stepping forward to assist us with this need.”
“We are focused on improving lives in the communities we serve. As we work together to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic, continued access to healthcare is critical, particularly for some of the most vulnerable members of our community,”
said Jill Hummel, President of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut.
“Telehealth is one way The Connection is stepping up to ensure their residents maintain seamless access to healthcare, and we are proud to support this organization with funding to secure the technology needed to offer this resource.”
Research shows that people who are living in poverty, unstable housing, unsafe neighborhoods, or people who have marginal educational opportunities are at greater risk for chronic health issues. The Connection’s residential programs are spending many hours per week connecting clients to care to ensure that our program participants can be healthy, productive members of our communities. Uninterrupted access to quality healthcare providers is essential to avoiding the consequences of what happens without access to care, such as running out of medicine, experiencing a mental health crisis, unnecessary emergency room visits and other poor health outcomes.
The Connection is grateful for this partnership with Anthem, which will create healthier communities and a better quality of life for those in our care.
