Donor Recognition
In November of 2020, the Connecticut Waverunners social running club partnered with The Connection to create a unique Peer to Peer fundraising campaign online. The campaign was centered around Giving Thanks by Giving Back and raised more than $3,000 for the programs at The Connection, a much-needed boost during a global pandemic. More than 300 members of the CT Waverunners Facebook group also learned about The Connection’s work through weekly Facebook posts containing information about the barriers many of our clients face on their recovery journeys. We are grateful to be a part of this mutually beneficial campaign.
In January of 2022, The Connection was thrilled to be the recipient of a one-to-one corporate matching gift totally $20,000! Half of the gift was contributed by The Connection Fund Board Chair Steve Angle and his wife, Debra Guss, and half of the gift came from corporate matching funds from Debra’s employer. We are grateful to be the recipient of a major gift such as this one, and grateful to the donor for researching how to make their personal contribution go further. We cannot do this complex work without the support of our generous community members!
We were fortunate to have many dedicated volunteers on the 2022 Community Links Golf Tournament planning committee. Each of our volunteers brought their time, treasure and talents to the table to help shape a successful event, which ultimately raised more than $60,000 to benefit The Connection. We are still looking for volunteers for the 2023 Community Links Golf Tournament planning committee! If you are interested in joining us, please contact Brian Thomas, Director of Development, at bjthomas@theconnectioninc.org.

CT Style: The Connection, An Important Part of Your Community
Kätchen Coley, co-founder of The Connection, was a social services pioneer—and a true believer in second chances for those whose lives were negatively impacted by poor choices and circumstances.
Kätchen passed away after a short illness in August 2013. Soon after, The Kätchen Coley Society was created in tribute to Kätchen for her extraordinary vision and values in establishing The Connection in 1972. After more than 40 years of service on The Connection’s Board of Directors, Kätchen (and her family) were delighted to know that The Society will serve as an enduring compass for the organization. Gifts to The Society honor her and further the work in which she passionately believed.
